Embrace the cold and explore the city, but not as you know it. For 17 nights Illuminate Adelaide will flick the switch and transform our city’s streets, laneways and open spaces into imagination and light.

This free light trail will span the city and bring together local, national and international artists and innovators to present cutting edge works on a scale Adelaide has never seen.

Wander through a field of fireflies, step inside a rainbow or get lost in shimmering fantasies as Adelaide’s laneways, grand public spaces and buildings are transformed into portals leading to new and imagined worlds.

Acclaimed artists and studios from around the world will create site-specific works including kaleidoscopic projections, immersive inflatable installations, augmented reality and interactive exhibits at the intersection of fine art and cutting-edge technology.

With more than 40 free works over the 17 days of Illuminate, City Lights will transform three separate precincts across Adelaide’s CBD – East, West and North – into nocturnal playgrounds.
