Emelyne is a DJ and active force within Naarm’s vibrant music scene. Her energy and enthusiasm around music brings people together, telling narratives of history through her woven tapestry of forgotten gems and little heard global sounds.

As a long-time and thoughtful music collector, Emelyne's sense of joy and exploration always comes through in the ways she shares music. Her bass-heavy tapestries invite us to listen closer to reconsider the borders, embrace the in-between, and invite in what's unfamiliar. Her prowess behind the decks has led her to support esteemed artists including Shackleton, Spanish Fly, Aya and Yaeji, and grace iconic stages like Soft Centre, Inner Varnika, Golden Plains Festival and Strawberry Fields.

Frank Yamma is one of Australia’s most important Indigenous songwriters, known for his powerful voice, emotive guitar work, and songs that cross cultural and musical boundaries. An initiated Pitjantjatjara man, he sings in both his native language and English, telling stories of country, heartache, and love. Based in Adelaide but spiritually connected to Central Australia, Yamma has earned critical acclaim with albums Countryman and Uncle, leading to performances at WOMADelaide, Bluesfest, Sydney Festival, and internationally at WOMAD UK and WOMEX. His 2020 album Tjukurpa: The Story received an ARIA nomination and widespread international praise.

Few have managed to snatch the attention of the Australian club and dance scenes like FUKHED. Hailing from Brisbane and now based in Sydney, FUKHED delivers sets filled with relentless techno and late-night melancholia. She’s crafted hefty mixes for Steel City Dance Discs, BCCO and Project Radio (UK); played fan-favourite sets at Field Day, Beyond The Valley and Subsonic; and shared stages with international heavyweights like Nia Archives and DJ Heartstring, as well as local trailblazers including Skin On Skin and X CLUB.

HART FLAYME is a Kaurna based artist who is a fresh face behind the decks, taking inspiration from years of immersion in the underground art and music scene to bring you a new audio experience. Her work spans multiple genres and mediums from mural painting and visual arts, fronting local punk band Two Sea Bee, and working on set design and décor for many different productions. Expect to hear a set that will take you on an emotional journey spanning many genres, featuring music from around the world, euphoric dance tracks, vocal heavy edits, percussive club sounds, and dark driving techno.

Hello Moto brings the bass that gets your body moving. She’s all about sounds from the global south and its far-reaching diaspora — music that travels, evolves, and connects. Her sets are a vibrant blend of Gqom, UK Funky, Baile, and whatever else feels right in the moment. It’s all about creating a space where you can move freely. A regular on the local circuit, she’s warmed up the floor for the likes of Jossy Mitsu, Mia Koden and Nazar.

Two thirds of Adelaide dance music event Housing Boom, Phil Pirone and Dave Kameniar channel classic house music sounds, from deep to garage to progressive, coming together as Housing Boom Soundsystem. Having played around Adelaide's dance music scene since 2017 individually as Phil 4 Real and Lonely D, the pair are seasoned and versatile selectors.

Mark Valenzuela, Miles Dunne and Alycia Bennett present a large-scale installation combining electronic composition, a lighting state, performance and experimental ceramics.

Input/Output centres on a large-scale steel structure fitted with ceramic objects, thread, fabric, and found objects created by Valenzuela and installed in the front gallery space at ACE. The work draws on several structures commonly used in the Philippines, combining the street stall, sari-sari (assorted goods) store, kariton, and paipitan (a cage used for transporting livestock), through which Valenzuela explores ideas around connection and isolation. Bennett and Dunne will collaborate with Valenzuela to extend these ideas through the incorporation of light and sound.

Kuiper is an experimental post-rock project that focusses on synthesizers as a core element, slowly introduced new sounds and dynamics that spin toward crescendos and crushing highs.

Kuiper has supported the likes of Mogwai, Stuart Braithwaite, Black Aleph, Treebeard and Khan. In this special Illuminate performance, he will be performing solo using synthesizers, piano and samples to convey post-rock, electronica, psychedelia and ambience.

Kuiper usually performs as a full band, but for this show will be playing a special solo set.

“If it doesn’t exist, make it yourself”. Senegalese-Spanish artist Maguette Dieng embodies this ideal. Based in Barcelona, she DJs and produces as MBODJ (pronounced em-bodge), but also curates, educates, and promotes both solo and with Jokkoo, the afro-diasporic collective she co-founded in 2017. Championing artists from Africa and the African diaspora alongside leftfield sonics from around the world, her sets embrace fragility, complexity and the tension of transitions: from gqom and jungle and footwork to noise. Although she’s played everywhere from Mutek and Sónar to Boiler Room and Nyege Nyege in Uganda, her most crucial contributions have been local. With Jokkoo, she’s created critical alternative spaces for underground culture in the city, bringing radical artists from around the world to Barcelona and providing a place for local artists to develop, whilst also linking local actions with global issues from Palestine to Sudan.

Memphis LK is an Australian artist whose singular approach has seen her solidified as one of the country’s most exciting new artists. First making waves in Melbourne’s world class club scene, producer, songwriter, vocalist, and DJ Memphis LK is diligently self-produced and DIY, epitomising the new wave of femme voices in dance music.

At her core Memphis is a performer, whose equal love for DJing and live performance has culminated into a transportive, high energy show. Memphis’ hybrid set guides her audience from hard hitting club music, to deeper cuts, all the way up to euphoric house party classics, while incorporating her live vocals and saxophone throughout. Providing a total sense of freedom and connection, Memphis has taken the stage at Pitchfork Music Festival, Splendour In The Grass, Pitch Music & Arts, as well as selling out the electrifying True Love Rave 2024 dates, her debut Australian headline shows.

Motez’ soundscape pushes the boundaries of your regular club producer, going way back before he was making wholesome, wall-to-wall club cuts and rocking festival stages. His classical piano know-how and clear influences of the 90s allow him to flex his skills and musical taste across all of his releases, chalking up six Hype Machine #1s, an ARIA Platinum single, and dropping official remixes for Disclosure, Sam Smith, Flume, and Ellie Goulding. Motez is also a regular on mix series Diplo & Friends, Beats1 Radio, Triple J Mix Up, and George FM. Beyond making club hits, Motez has also expanded his artistry into film, art, and curation.

NELYA loves to throw down club beats from around the globe and from local underrepresented producers. As a local favourite in the queer scene in Kaurna Yerta, she does her best to mix queer intersectional and unapologetic floor fillers with nostalgic club hits. Now performing simply under the name NELYA, she has brought her signature flavour to music festivals such as Laneway and Groove in the Moo, and supported acts such as Peaches, Kira Piru, Milan Ring, Hot Dub Time Machine, Half Queen and FOURA.

Plastiq is the surrealist, contemporary music project by Moses Carr (VIC, keyboards/performer) and Quartz Pistol (Abbey Howlett, SA, vocals/costumes/performer), in collaboration with digital artist/cinematographer CAPITAL WASTE (Liam Somerville, SA, visuals/performer). Plastiq delves into possible future outcomes for life in the Anthropocene through their compositions and live performance. Their idiosyncratic blend of pop music, IDM, film soundtracks and visceral otherworldly production is paired with an apocalyptic virtual world in which their digital doubles inhabit.

The live show unveils the inner layers of Plastiq’s lore and sonic environment. Moses’ signature thumping drums and expectation defying arrangements are counterbalanced with Quartz Pistol’s live processed and sweetly urgent vocals. The audience, at any given moment, can land anywhere between a poignant heartbreaking apocalypse ballad or a floor-shaking industrial explosion. Digital artist CAPITAL WASTE performs alongside the musicians on stage conjuring a virtual apocalyptic world on screen that is controlled and explored in real time.

Polito is a electronic composition, bodily practice, and mesmerising audio-visual experience created live by musicians Robert Downie and Finnian Langham, and performers Arabella Frahn-Starkie and Hillary Goldsmith.

Real-time modular synthesis and evolving beat foundations create a transfixing sonic journey, anchored to movement which constantly reacts and evolves through a continuous, symbiotic form. Moments of euphoria emerge out of and supersede the mundane; forms align, hyperextending into a blurry dissonance before snapping back into sublime harmony. By engaging with improvisational scores and responding to each other and their surroundings, Polito create hypnotic performances which are varied and unique each time.

A one-night-stand with Australian documentaries celebrating the intersection of music and social change for the activist and music lover in all of us.

Shalom Almond is an award-winning two-time AACTA nominated Australian documentary filmmaker who is passionate about making character-driven, observational, social issue documentaries. She was the 2019 recipient of the South Australian Film Corporation’s inaugural LoWe Lyell Award, which is granted to a female filmmaker demonstrating courage and boldness in their work.

Building on a burgeoning cross-media collaboration that has included appearances at Soft Centre and Make It Up Club, performance/video artist Andrea Illés and musician Marcus Whale present a new three-hour performance created for The Lab's unique space — unfolding across sound, dance and live-feed video.

Supported by ILA, the Australian Premiere of this three-hour sound and movement piece will include solo, collaborative and interactive sections — exploring impossible perfection, bodily failure and surveillance, with inspiration from Greek mythology.
